Monday Feb 2, Good Food Café

A scene by Jackie Torrens being performed by Annie and Eric (note the shocked audience reaction!) in the foreground, and an original song penned and performed by Holly Winter in the background... this is the Café at its best.

This all-ages
Café (note the child peering out from behind Kim's arm) was a departure in many ways: our first afternoon Café; the first Café introducing out Academy four; and, of course, our last Café before leaving for Berlin and performing a Café at the museum FLUXUS+ in Potsdam.

This was the first time the eight of us performed together, some performances planned and rehearsed, others improvised on the spot. Some of Good Food's unsuspecting guests enjoyed the surprise of rants, scenes and songs, while some of our audience had come specifically to see the Academy Four work together as an ensemble in the unusual and electrifying Café setting.

Aaron sorts his Café material, Holly gets psyched, and "Ich bin ein Vampir"-Sophie remains invisible.

And: after the Good Food Café, somewhat exhausted but keen to make use of what rehearsal time we have, Kim, Eric, Annie and I reconvened at Menz to read through our revised 'Apocalypse 2009' script. We continue to discuss which themes are of greatest importance to us, re-examining the dramatic structure of the piece; editing and in some cases rewriting dialogue.
